The future of Aston Martin will include more SUVs, electric vehicles

Aston Martin is celebrating the 70th anniversary of its first car sold in North America, and in the process the brand is giving us a glimpse of its future strategy that includes new versions of the popular DBX SUV, a new mid-engine platform, and a range of electrified vehicles. Let’s take a closer look.

The Aston Martin DBX portfolio will expand

Aston Martin will update its DBX portfolio to include new models including a hybrid, a plug-in hybrid, and models with even more performance. Aston Martin says the DBX will also get a Coupe-like version with an even more aggressive design.

The popularity of the Aston Martin DBX has boosted the legendary automaker’s cash flow which will translate into a range of upcoming models outside the DBX lineup.

Mid-Engine Aston Martin Vehicles

Aston Martin executive chairman Lawrence Stroll and new CEO Tobias Moers confirmed that the brand will be developing a brand-new mid-engine platform derived from Formula 1 which will see its first model in 2023. There will also be a new Aston Martin Vanquish with a mid-engine layout and a hybrid powertrain coming in 2024.

Exclusive models

Aston Martin has a range of exclusive models planned including the 2022 Aston Martin V12 Speedster of which only 88 units will be built. The Aston Martin Valkyrie, heavily influenced by F1, has started production in Gaydon, U.K., with a spider version coming in the summer of 2022.

A Range of New-Generation Aston Martin Models
