The All-New, Electrified Aston Martin Valhalla Sets the Bar
Aston Martin is taking the future by the horns. After the launch of the long-awaited DBX SUV which is destined to be the leader of its segment, the prestigious marque reiterates its commitment to perfectly blend efficiency and driving dynamics in the all-new Valhalla hypercar.
Unveiled as a concept in June 2019, the Valhalla is Aston Martin’s first mid-engine car destined for production.
Riveting electrified power in the new Aston Martin Valhalla
In order to provide a perfect balance between motorsport-inspired performance and state-of-the-art electric efficiency, the new Aston Martin Valhalla uses plug-in hybrid powertrain that pairs a twin-turbo V8 engine mated to an electric powertrain and a battery. The combination creates a total output of 937 horsepower.
The Valhalla is all about weight savings, without compromising on comfort and the refined drive Aston Martin owners love. The engine is mounted in a lightweight carbon fibre chassis that is as solid as it is capable in terms of handling. Also, the all-new dual-clutch gearbox has eight forward gears and no physical reverse gear. Backward manoeuvres are handled by the electric part of the powertrain which can easily spin the opposite way, saving weight inside the gearbox. This gearbox can also send 100 percent of the power to the rear axle.
Unprecedented performance for the Aston Martin Valhalla
The Valhalla is expected to beat records of all levels on the track given its manufacturer’s extensive Formula One experience and background. But it will also be able to please owners who want to drive it on a daily basis thanks to its advanced chassis components that can provide the best in terms of performance and comfort.
For example, the suspension features Canadian-made Multimatic Variable Spring rate and Adaptive Spool Valve Dampers for ultimate handling capabilities. Altogether, the mechanical advancements let the Aston Martin Valhalla tip the scale at only 1,550 kilograms. Therefore, it can sprint from 0-100 km/h in just 2.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 330 km/h. The Valhalla is also capable of driving at up to 130 km/h in full electric mode.
