Aston Martin DB6 sits in barn for 30 years, sells for over $250k

If you have a barn, we recommend checking to see if there isn’t a vintage Aston Martin DB6 sitting under a pile of boxes or something. One person in the UK did just that, and happened to stumble on a 1970 Aston Martin DB6 Vantage which had been sitting there for at least 30 years according to RM Sotheby’s who handled the auction.

The car was in poor shape esthetically, but it had its original 4.0-litre inline-six engine and original exterior color. And as stated above, this was indeed a Vantage model, just one of 71 Vantage DB6 models built in 1970.

The Aston Martin DB6 Vantage was a more powerful version of the regular DB6, pushing 325 horsepower instead of 282 hp. Moreover, being a MK II DB6, this particular unit had a five-speed gearbox with a more rugged clutch and a standard power assist system.

The special and exclusive nature of this DB6 pushed the auction price to over $250,000 which may seem like a lot on the surface, but this DB6 Vantage once restored could fetch over $750,000. DB6 models from that era go for around $350k US, but a Vantage is very rare and can easily double that.

In any case, we’d certainly take it, poor condition and all!
